The 2020 Sigma Phi Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship
Are you an Valparaiso University male undergraduate first-year or transfer student who believes in the ideals of having a Sound Mind and Sound Body? Are you looking for a scholarship that recognizes your achievements inside and outside of the classroom? Sigma Phi Epsilon is offering a $1000 scholarship with eight other runner up prizes totaling to $3,000 with the Balanced Man Scholarship.
The Balanced Man Scholarship rewards students who have shown academic excellence, leadership skills, and a commitment to their health and well-being. At the Indiana Zeta Chapter of Valparaiso University, SigEp believes that recognizing students who demonstrate balance and all-around excellence is one way to promote men of principle. We are committed to helping our members develop the skills they need to succeed in the classroom, future careers, and everyday life.
There is no requirement of joining the fraternity in order to be eligible to apply or win the scholarship. The application deadline is September 13thβ take the 5 minutes to apply now!

The 2020 Balanced Man Scholarship application is due Sunday, September 13th.
The Balanced Man Scholarship Program
Applicants for the Balanced Man Scholarship will undergo an interview process by which the BMS Chairmen and the rest of the selection committee will evaluate the extent to which they embody our principles of Sound Mind and Sound Body. The BMS process begins with the submission of the application form. Submitted applications will earn a first-round interview. Applicants will be selected based on their interview to participate in the Balanced Man Scholarship Program.
The extended interview process by which candidates are selected is comprised of several events designed to help candidates adjust to college life, build leadership skills, and develop a sound mind and sound body. The 2019 BMS programming will include:
- September 14-18 - 15 minute First Round Interview (Casual)
- September 28 - Get the Most Out of College (Professor and Student Panel)
- October 5-9 - Second Round Interview (Professional/Formal)
- October 20 - Skills Men Should KnowΒ
- November 6 and 7 - Balanced Man Scholarship Retreat
