The 2019 Sigma Phi Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship
Are you a Valparaiso University male undergraduate first-year or transfer student that believes in the ideals of having a Sound Mind and Sound Body? Are you looking for a scholarship that recognizes your achievements inside and outside of the classroom? Sigma Phi Epsilon is offering 8 scholarships totaling $3000 for the Balanced Man Scholarship.
The Balanced Man Scholarship rewards students who have shown academic excellence, leadership skills, and commitment to their health and well-being. At the Indiana Zeta Chapter of Valparaiso University, SigEp believes that recognizing students that demonstrate balance and excellence is one way to promote this ideal. We are committed to helping our members develop the skills they need to succeed in the classroom, future careers, and everyday life.
There is no requirement of joining the fraternity in order to be eligible to apply or win the scholarship. The application deadline is September 13th— take the 15 minutes to apply now!

The 2019 Balanced Man Scholarship is due September 13th, the date of our first event.
The Balanced Man Scholarship Program
Applicants for the Balanced Man Scholarship will undergo an extended interview process by which the BMS Chairmen and the rest of the selection committee will evaluate the extent to which they embody our principles of Sound Mind and Sound Body. The BMS process begins with the submission of the application form. Each applicant's submission will be evaluated based on their high-school achievements and written responses. Successful applications will earn a first-round interview. Applicants will be selected based on their interview to participate in the Balanced Man Scholarship Program.
The extended interview process by which candidates are selected is comprised of several events designed to help candidates adjust to college life, build leadership skills, and develop a sound mind and sound body. The 2019 BMS programming will include:
- September 13 - 5:30 pm - Get the Most Out of College (Professor and Student Panel)
- September 16 through September 27 - 15 minute First Round Interview (Casual)
- October 2 - 7:30 pm - Skills Men Should Know
- October 17 through October 25 - Second Round Interview (Professional / Formal)
- November 8 and November 9 - Balanced Man Scholarship Retreat
